Lapinha Cave
Discovered by Peter W. Lund in 1835, the Lapinha
Cave is an attractive internationally, receiving tourists from various parts of
Brazil and the world for its natural beauty and historical and cultural wealth.
The area where visitation is 511 meters long and 40
meters distributed in galleries and salons to the imagination with suggestive
names such as: Hall Cauliflower; Cathedral Hall, Hall of Indians, the Cascade
Room, Hall of curtains, among others. The cave fascinated by its beauty and the
pleasant touch of adventure; visitation is easily accessible.
The Lapinha Cave, through the Caves Circuit
incorporates the Lund Line project, a tourist circuit forming the karst region
around the state capital. "It is also the gateway to the State Park
Sinkhole important by numerous archaeological sites, caves and staging areas
for migratory birds."
Lapinha Cave, located in Lagoa Santa, is one
of the seven wonders of the Royal Road. A true geological temple, the cave is a
natural sculpture of inspiring beauty. With 511 meters long, 40 deep, the cave
has 15 halls that can be visited by the public. The rocks extraordinary format
give names to the halls, as the Hall of the Cathedral, gigantic hall decorated
with the most interesting shapes, implying a large baroque cathedral inside the
rock. The Hall of Indians takes its name from the rocks sculpted by the wind
forming drawings of faces that seem indigenous.
In the Cascade Hall, considered the most
beautiful, the rock resembles a cascade of water frozen in a photograph of
stone, formed by thousands of stalagmites. In the corridors and halls, forms insinuate
themselves on the heads of visitors, drawn as solid cloud by centuries of toil
water and limestone.
One of the halls is named for Peter Lund, the famous
scientist and discoverer of important cave.
The visits are daily from 9:30 to 17h. The cave is lit so
that tourists do not lose any detail. Stairs with handrail make it all very
accessible environment. And then, what about the refreshing shade of the rock
as a destination for tour? Come on, Risca backpack, camera, insect repellent,
water and sunscreen.
