Feast of the Divine

The Feast of the Holy Spirit was born in Portugal from a real dream. It is said that Queen Elizabeth (1271-1336) and is spending the night with her husband, King D. Diniz, in the village of Swindon, had a dream. In it, God informed him that more would be happy if it were built in that area, a church to the Holy Spirit. Upon waking, Queen Elizabeth sent asking judges of the Village to send you four masons and six helpers, and ordered them to fincassem the foundations in one place. The feast of Our Lady of Health, inventoried by the Intangible Heritage of the City, is the main celebration of the city almost 200 years ago , and receives pilgrims from various parts of the country .

Culture - Congado

Congado 

The Congado mixes elements of black culture (dance, rhythm and instruments of African origin) with representations inspired by the Catholic tradition (such as simulation of the struggles between Catholics and golds, in the medieval period and the hoisting of flags with the image of the holy devotion of culture black as Santa Iphigenia, Saint Benedict and Our Lady of the Rosary). Another important component of the Congado is the crowning of the King and Queen (performance which incorporates the legend of Chico-Rei), who are chosen from among the active members annually. In Lagoa Santa exists only one group congado the Mozambique Santana, located in burgh Várzea.

CANDOMBE

Candombe is a religious manifestation of black origin and the Congado and Mozambique, which has at its base the honor of Our Lady of the Rosary. Like other manifestations, has its origin in a mythical narrative, which has variations according to where it counted, though the stories are quite similar.
